A light filled, contemporary kitchen and living space reconfiguration

This modest reconfiguration of an existing kitchen and toilet has transformed the space and flooded it with light.

The existing layout had a toilet and boiler facing on to the garden and a dark kitchen. The first move was to relocate the kitchen to the garden elevation and to open up the space. The toilet was moved to where the kitchen used to be, and there was enough space for a utility cupboard and shower.

This has changed the clients life in the house - she never watches tv any more, she reads at her dining table in the transformed kitchen.

All this was achieved with no new build, just rearranging the layout, saving a considerable amount of cost to the job.

This house renovation on Byron Road in Walthamstow transforms a dark and constrained
1960's house on a Victorian Street into a grand home perfect for modern living.
The proposals perform a balancing act between the competing needs of enhancing the street
presence of the property, opening up to the garden and preserving the privacy of the Client.
The rear of the property has been completely modernised, with a full width side return
extension to the ground floor replacing dark a narrow alley.
